Antony Drake Jones

Antony Drake Jones was born of the partnership between Mr. George Edward Dicks and Ms. Faye Johnson on September 9, 1974 in Hahira, Georgia. During his early youth Drake lived in Valdosta, Georgia among his extended family, who lovingly called him “Junior”. At the age of four he moved with his family to Florida, staying in the coastal town of Titusville for a total of four months before his mother settled with he and his two sisters in Orlando, Florida. Educated in Orange County Public Schools, Drake excelled academically. Teachers often noted how bright he was but wished he wasn’t quite so talkative! So instead of prolonging the boredom he often experienced in his classes, after tenth grade Drake left Oak Ridge High School behind—choosing instead to acquire his GED. Without studying, he completed both sections of the exam in less than half the allotted time, earning himself a near perfect score. From a young age Drake could be described as a free spirit—willing and eager to try new things and meet new people. His gentle, easy-going nature made him popular with children and he longed to have a big family of his own one day. His hobbies included BMX racing, music, men’s fashion, watching sports (especially the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), and the study of cannabis and its effect on the human body (he was determined to find an effective pain reliever for his little sister). Drake’s mother is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had raised him to be conscious of his spiritual need. Thus, he frequently turned to her for advice and guidance. Drake knew the things he’d learned from the bible as a youth to be the absolute truth and had voiced his desire to one day become a dedicated servant of Jehovah himself. He leaves to mourn his loss his son, Cory Jamal Perry (mother Jennifer) of Deltona, FL, daughter Jyleah (mother Joanna) of Orlando, FL; his mother, Faye Johnson-Whittle (husband Herold) of Orlando, FL; his father, George Edward Dicks of Titusville, FL; his sisters, Keisha Lachon Jones of West Roxbury, MA, Melanie Denise Jones-Munford (Christopher) of Orlando, FL, Nicole Dicks of Titusville, FL; his brothers, Gerard Dicks of Orlando, FL, Corey Dicks of Titusville; his niece, Hannah Nikole Munford of Orlando, FL; his grandmother, Renell Johnson of Valdosta, GA; his uncles, Larry Johnson (Pat) of Bunn Level, NC, Charles Johnson of Orlando, FL, Victor Johnson (Latresa) of Austin, TX, and Rufus Michael Johnson (Lisa) of Lake Park, GA; his aunts, Annie Molly Curry of Orlando, FL, Clifford Mae Mobley of Orlando, FL, Susan Johnson of Orlando, FL, Shirley Jean Reed (Earnest) of Crawfordville, FL, Patricia Ann Day of Valdosta, GA, and Rosemary Graham (Jesse) of Valdosta, GA. He also leaves behind a host of cousins and caring friends to cherish his memory. We patiently await the day when Jehovah, our Grand Creator, will awaken him from death. Then Drake (aka “Flake”) will finally have the opportunity to realize the goals left unfulfilled by his unexpected death on May 2, 2014.
