Bernice Yolanda Lindsey

Born in Orlando, FL on August 13, 1981 to parents Bennie and Yvonne Lindsey. Bernice had cerebral palsy, a result of oxygen deprivation during her full-term birth. Bernice was clinically dead and was revived by the Neonatal Team after eight minutes of chest compression. Her prognosis was very poor as she was initially given 72 hours to live. Bernice was named after her grandmother Bernice Williams who participated in her care. Her grandmother is a member of the Central Congregation. Bernice is survived by her father and mother who have been married for 40 years. She has had the loving, ongoing hands-on support of her Grandmother Bernice Williams, her cousins Dr. Juanese Williams, Africa Christa, and Juante Goynes. She belongs to a family that currently have 5 generations alive. Great Aunts Bettye Bethel (Orlando), Juanita Moore (Orlando), and Georgette Roberts (New York) and Great Uncle Eddie Caldwell (New Jersey), Aunt Ruth Cato, (Georgia) and Aunt Shirely Williams, (Tallahassee). A special acknowledgement to my Spiritual Sisters Ruthie Smith & Merline Bowles who spent countless one on one time with Bernice reading to her from our publications. Bernice went to United Cerebral Palsy as a baby and was published in an article about Cerebral Palsy. She attended Lake Silver and Magnolia School until she was 22 years old. At the time of demise on December 24th Bernice was 35 years old. In October 2014, she had her first major hospitalization and was intubated. It was felt that she would not survive. There were some notable interventions in her life, notably a very skilled and caring Surgeon and Medical Team. JW Broadcasting was also released at that time to provide strength and encouragement to her family. Bernice was a fighter and she appreciated life. She was cared for in a loving home environment and was always surrounded by loving supportive family members. She was placed in the hub of the house so that she could feel inclusion as she battled with her health issues. When she was able she attended our Assemblies and Conventions. She was not able to speak but made her preferences known through eye contact and facial expressions. She adored watching Country Music Videos and Cartoons. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations be made to the Pine Hills Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
