Cecilia R. Zuniga

Cecilia R. Zuniga, also known as “Ceci,” 61 years old, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on July 19, 2023. Cecilia was born in Lima, Peru, to parents Demetrio Pimentel and Martina Guillermina Quispe. She immigrated to New York City in the early 1980s with her then-spouse, Luis Zuniga, and her children, Emmy Da Costa and Eduardo Johan Zuniga. She came to know her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in New York City at Getsemani Baptist Church. She was a proud member for many years and served in ministries such as the Youth Group, Ladies' Ministry, Choir, and even did Admin work. She had the opportunity to share the gospel with her parents, her siblings, and her nieces and nephews. She was a strong woman of faith and demonstrated kindness and wisdom to those who knew her. Cecilia was the first among her siblings to obtain a college degree; she did this while raising her children as a single mom and working a full-time job. She was a strong woman, a dedicated mother, and demonstrated impeccable work ethic. Her favorite pastimes were going to the beach, taking family road trips, window shopping, gardening, and doing word search puzzles. She also enjoyed watching classic movies and comedies like The Jefferson Show. She had a variety of tastes in music, from Steve Green to the Bee Gees to the Eagles, to name a few. In 2008 Cecilia moved to Orlando, Florida, and began a new career in the hotel industry. She quickly ascended in roles, and her last title was Operations Manager at the Wingate near Orlando Airport. She was a great leader, committed to her work, and a strong advocate for her staff. During her time in Orlando, she became a member of Orlando Baptist Church and briefly served in the children’s Awana ministry. Cecilia was big on family and enjoyed cooking Peruvian dishes such as Aji de Gallina, Causa, and Ceviche for her family. She also made it a point to be present for her family’s milestone moments. Some of her proudest family moments were her grandsons' high school and college graduations and her grandson Connor’s graduation from the US Marines. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughter Emmy and son-in-law Frank Da Costa, her son Eduardo and daughter-in-law Cathy Zuniga, her grandsons Elijah Da Costa, Joshua Da Costa, Noah Zuniga, Connor Zuniga, Jacob Da Costa, Dante Zuniga, and granddaughter in law Mackenzie Da Costa, her mother Martina Guillermina Quispe, and her siblings Leandra Requena, Rolando Requena, Elba Pimentel, Cesar Pimentel, Roberto Pimentel, and Rebeca Fiestas.
