David E Moss

David Eugene Moss, 72, of Ocoee, FL, passed away on Thursday, December 11th, 2025, at the Altamonte Hospice Care Center surrounded by his family, after suffering from a chronic lung disease. Brief Overview of Life David was born on August 26th, 1953, in Charlotte, North Carolina and lived a life filled with love, service, adventure, and faith. He was one of seven children of James T Moss and Mary L Moss. David grew up in Charlotte, NC and spent childhood years doing wood crafting, creative projects, and keeping his siblings on their toes. He attended North Mecklenburg High School, class of 1971. Career and Work Life David worked as a Superintendent for Contech Construction Co, doing concrete work for most of his working years. He was known professionally for his hard work, dedication, leadership, and advanced knowledge of the field and machine operation. Highlights of his career include paving and finishing work for Advent Heath Ocoee, Celebration, Celebration Hospital, and Pleasure Island (now Disney Springs). He was also a good neighbor on Anderson Place, maintaining the dirt road with tractor equipment rentals, and extending a hand to anyone who needed help with handyman work or tree cutting. Military Service David Moss proudly served in the Air Force. Marriage and Significant Relationships On September 5th 1982, David married MaryAnn Marcum in Orlando, Florida. Together, they shared 30 years of marriage, filled with love and family. Three Children: Angela Gilbert, Benjamin Moss and Beverly Capistrano, Four Grandchildren: Ryland, Lucas, Theodora and Adam, and other close family and dear friends. He was a proud and loving “Papaw” to his four grandchildren, with one more grandson on the way at the time of his death. Personal Qualities and Character Those who knew David will remember him for his willingness to sacrifice himself for those in need, strength of will, and wise counsel. He had a special gift for listening, making others laugh, and helping people. Hobbies and Interests In his free time, David enjoyed outdoor activities and working on home projects, playing guitar, bonfires and meals with family and friends, quality time with family, investing, shopping, browsing the internet and sharing his favorite humorous and inspirational content with friends and family. Faith, Spiritual Life, or Community Involvement David gave back to the community through his volunteer work at the Christian Service Center of Ocoee, and held a strong Christian faith. Predeceased Family Members David was preceded in death by his mother Mary L Moss, father James T Moss, and his sister Dianne Edwards. Surviving Family Members David is survived by his ex wife, mother to his children and close friend: MaryAnn; children: Angela, Ben, and Beverly; grandchildren: Ryland, Lucas, Theodora, Adam, and Samuel; siblings: Jimmy, Elaine, Robert, Dana, and Lisa; and many other loving family members and friends. Special Thank-Yous The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Elaine & David Ward, the VA, Advent Health, Hospice staff, Michette and staff at A Community Funeral Home, Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, and to friends and family, for your compassionate care and support. Funeral or Memorial Service Details David was cremated per his wishes, and a veterans memorial service and burial will be held on Friday January 30th 2026 at 2:00pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, with a spot reserved next to him for his life-long love and friend MaryAnn Moss. Memorial Contributions or Donations In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MaryAnn Moss and family who are closing up and handling his estate.
