Gertrudis A. Mantecon

Gertrudis Arias Mantecon nacio en Puerto Padre, (Oriente) Cuba el 17 de Marzo de 1929, hija de Clotilde y Jose Arias. Gertrudis fue una de 12 hijos. Ella disfruto su infancia creciendo en “El doce de Santa Maria”. Un dia muy especial conocio a Israel Mantecon quien mas adelante se convertiria en su amado esposo, se casaron el 9 de Julio de 1959. Gertrudis e Israel estuvieron felizmente casados por 55 años hasta que el señor llamo a Gertrudis a su lado, de esta preciosa union brotaron 2 maravillosos hijos, Israel y Gabriel. En 1968, Israel y Gertrudis tomaron la dificil decision de sacrificar sus vidas y dejar a Cuba para poder ofrecer un mejor futuro a sus hijos. Su nueva vida en los Estados Unidos los trajo a Orlando, FL. Despues de mucho trabajo y determinacion ellos pudieron crear una vida maravillosa para sus familias, pronto esta familia crecio para incluir dos Nueras, Star y Gilian y 5 nietos, Andy, John, Gregory, Brett y Olivia. Gertrudis fue una mujer maravillosa, bondadosa y una esposa ejemplar, madre incondicional, abuela, hermana, tia y madrina. Ella siempre fue un ejemplo a seguir para sus hijos y nietos y les infundio la importancia que tiene la familia, les enseño a ser humildes, a ser fuertes y a tener mucha fe en Dios. Su familia la va a extrañar muchisimo, pero tienen paz en sus corazones porque saben que ella ahora no sufre y que esta gozandose con la presencia de Dios. Estan en paz porque saben que tienen un Angel cuidando de ellos. Gertrudis Arias Mantecon was born in Puerto Padre, (Oriente), Cuba on March 17, 1929 to Clotilde and Jose Arias. Gertrudis was one of 12 siblings. She cherished her childhood growing up in “el doce de Santa Maria.” On a special day, she met Israel Mantecon, who would become her loving husband on July 9, 1959. Gertrudis and Israel’s loving union lasted 55 years. Shortly after, their family expanded to include her two amazing sons, Israel and Gabriel. In 1968, Gertrudis and Israel made the difficult decision to sacrifice their lives and leave Cuba, in order to ensure a better future for their children. Her new life in the United States brought her to Orlando, Florida. With hard work and determination, Gertrudis and Israel were able to create a wonderful life for their family. Her family grew to include two daughter-in-laws, Star and Gilian; and five grandchildren: Andy, John, Gregory, Brett and Olivia. Not only was Gertrudis a wonderful and kind woman, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and godmother. She was an excellent example to her children and grandchildren on the importance of family, having humility, inner strength and faith. We will miss her dearly, but we have peace in our hearts knowing she is no longer suffering and is with God. We find comfort knowing that we have another angel with us.
