Isabel María Martínez

Isabel María Martínez, age 86 of Orlando, Florida passed away Wednesday March 14, 2018. Isabel was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on December 20, 1931. She was known as Sonora and was the ninth child of Francisco Martinez and Maria Marta Garcia. She loved poetry and used to write poems. She was a devoted gardener and throughout her life grew roses. Isabel Maria used to talk and sing to her roses. She had long afternoon private conversations with her plants. Isabel Maria went to school in San Carlos and graduated at Salome Ureña High School. She attended one of the first Medical School female classes at the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). During her youth she worked as a teacher at San Carlos School and married the love of her life, Joaquin Aguiar with whom she procreated her six children: Aida Altagracia, Maria Isabel, Ana Brigida, Maria Magdalena, Ramona del Carmen and their only baby boy, Victor Joaquin Aguiar Martinez whom she spent her last years in Orlando, Florida. Doña Isabel was a devoted religious woman. She was an active Catholic and parishioner. She had great deal of respect of the religious beliefs of others and was a guiding light and perfect role model that inspired with her vast knowledge and education, kindness, good manners, intelligence, grace, class and soft voice not only her family but those whom came across on her path. People felt she was a person they could trust and confess and look for advise knowing that words of wisdom, compassion and positive survival were going to bring a solution to their concerns. Her spirit has been liberated now but her loving smile, her gentle face, her labor and love will live for ever in our memories until the eternity. It has been an honor and a privilege to be in the path and part of the journey of one of the wisest women ever born. Her six children,seventeen grand children named Diana, Raysa,Tammy, Jazmin, Wilson, Mabel, Myriam, Gabriel, Carlos, Marlene, Margie, Bryant, Ashley, Vicky, Jacob, Adele and Mariette as well as her six great grandchildren Joaquin, Derek, Etan, Dante, Grace Isabel, Angel Joaquin survived Doña Isabel Maria. Her work on earth was done.
