Judith Anne Reilly

Judith Anne (Judy) Reilly, age 73 of Orlando, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 31, 1942 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to the late Richard and Mary (Whalen) Reilly, Judy moved to Orlando in 1944. Her faith was the center of her life as was St. James Catholic Cathedral where she was a lifelong member. Judy was a loving little lady, rich in faith and family. She considered her many close St. James friends as her church family. In fact, many of her friends date back to her days at Bishop Moore High School. For many years, she was a daily communicant at her church. Judy was a devoted member of St. James Lay Carmelite Community for 26 years. She also enjoyed participating in St. James Prime Timers- Senior Ministry, singing in the Choir and helping in many church activities. Central to Judy's faith was a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She prayed many rosaries daily and always had a rosary tucked in her pocket. Nothing was more endearing than Judy's ready smile and contagious laughter that warmed the hearts of all who knew her. She cared deeply for her friends and never forgot a name. Even in her final years, while living at the Commons at Orlando Lutheran Towers, she touched the hearts of residents and staff alike. In fact, she served at the patient representative for her floor. She chose to spend her final weeks under the care of the Commons staff and Cornerstone Hospice. She is survived by her cousins: Robert Normandin of New Bedford, MA and Bill Hinchcliffe (Vivian) of Bluffton, SC; Uncle William Hinchcliffe of Newington, CT and her dear many friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint James Catholic Cathedral with Father John McCormick officiating on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10 AM. Visitation and a scriptural rosary led by the Lay Carmelites will be held prior to the funeral service form 9 am to 10 am at St. James Cathedral. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society in Judy's memory at St. James Cathedral, 215 North Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801
