Laurie Regina Muschlitz

Where I have gone I am not so small. My soul is as wide as the world is tall. I have gone to answer the call, The call of the One who takes care of us all. Wherever you look, you will find me there- In the heart of a rose, In the heart of a prayer. On butterflies’ wings, on wings of my own, To you, I’m gone, But I’m never alone- I am home. Laurie Regina Muschlitz unexpectedly left us to join her Heavenly Father on February 14, 2020, Valentines Day. She was met at the gates of Heaven by the welcoming arms of her mother, Pamela Michaels; father, Robert Michaels; grandparents Robert and Nel Michaels and Howard and Grace Kelly; and beloved family and friends who have gone before her. Laurie leaves behind a heartbroken family: husband Karl Muschlitz, brother Robert M. Michaels, beloved collies Ladybug and Captain Jack and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. Laurie was born on November 6, 1961 in Syracuse New York, moved to Florida shortly thereafter, and graduated from Winter Park High School. After a career in accounting, Laurie retired early to focus on family and homemaking. Beside her husband Karl, she assisted in renovating and maintaining rental properties. Never afraid of a challenge or hard work, Laurie was creative and industrious and took pride in accomplishing do-it-yourself projects which may have seemed daunting to the average person. She always portrayed a “can-do” attitude and wasn’t afraid to step out of her comfort zone to accomplish a task. Laurie’s ability to look at the bright side of things was an inspiration to others. She will be terribly missed, but will always be remembered by her warm and caring heart, her compassion for all creatures great and small, and for her great big beautiful smile. Laurie had many interests and many loves, but none greater than her love of family. She cherished family get-togethers and often spoke fondly of memorable times spent with family members during holidays and special occasions over the years. Laurie loved nature and all animals, especially her precious Collies, and she was often seen walking her dogs by neighbors and friends. Her interests included swimming, bicycling, gardening, cooking, fishing, and spending time at the beach. Because of her friendliness and caring nature, she became a friend to everyone she met. Most recently, she enjoyed volunteering at local dog rescues. Laurie will be honored at a Celebration of Life Memorial to be held on Saturday. March 7 at 2:00 PM at A Community Funeral Home located at 910 West Michigan Street, Orlando 32805. In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Laurie’s love of animals, the family requests donations to Canine Companions, or the animal rescue organization of your choice.
