Lisa Marie Palata

Lisa Marie Palata, 56, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on August 17, 2025. She was born on September 6, 1968, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Helen Lee Stewart Dunham and Thomas William Becker. Lisa grew up in Orlando and graduated from Colonial High School. She began her career in the hospitality industry and, through dedication and hard work, rose into management and later became an executive leader with IHG Hotels & Resorts. This past April, she proudly celebrated 25 years with IHG, a milestone that reflected her commitment, leadership, and love for her career. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Atiae Palata, with whom she had three children: Kurtis (Ashley), A.J. (partner Tiane), and Kennedy (Chandler). She is survived by her loving husband, Tigi Purcell; her children; and her sister, Melanie Becker. Active in her community, Lisa gave generously of her time and heart, always offering support and creating a sense of belonging for those around her. She loved cheering her children on from the baseball, football, and tennis sidelines when they were young, always their biggest fan. As her children grew up, weekends became cherished family time. She enjoyed strolling the farmers market with her daughter, Kennedy, barbecuing with her son, A.J., and spending time with her son, Kurtis, and his beloved animals. Lisa truly loved those moments, and she delighted in showing off her “grand-dogs” and cats. She also adored sharing those family times with Ashley, her daughter-in-law, Tiane, A.J.’s partner, and Chandler, her son-in-law. Lisa’s compassion and kindness were felt by everyone she met. She was a supportive friend and neighbor, and above all, a devoted mother. To many of her children’s friends, she was like a second mom, and to her extended circle of friends and family, she was lovingly regarded as a nurturing grandmother figure. She was also a devoted stepmom and a loving step-grandmother to Tigi’s family, embracing them with the same warmth and love she gave her own. Lisa loved to travel and never passed up the chance to enjoy a nice glass of wine. That shared passion with her friends brought laughter, connection, and countless cherished memories, moments that reflected her joy for life and the way she found meaning in being with others. She enjoyed sunshine and swimming in her pool, and she cherished vacations by the beach, the place she always dreamed of retiring. Lisa had a gift for making her home a place of comfort, where everyone felt welcome. Her warmth, generosity, and vibrant personality touched many lives, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Among her closest were lifelong friends who were like family, sharing in her joys and standing by her through life’s challenges. Lisa’s celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 4851 S. Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, FL 32819. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
