Lorenza Laurie Amato

Lorenza “Laurie” Amato, age 90, of Orlando, Florida, went to meet our Lord on December 31, 2025, surrounded by her family and a dear friend Hilda. Fifty years to the date her father passed. Laurie was born on June 7, 1935, in Beloit, Wisconsin. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother who loved her family deeply. She is survived by her four children: Michael, Scott (LaDonna), Jackie (Mark) Jones, and Tracie. She also leaves behind her granddaughters Kristin Jones, Ashley (Christopher) Rosensteel, and Sara (Adam) Westerhold, as well as her great‑granddaughter Raeleigh Rosensteel. Laurie is preceded in death by her parents, Antonino and Vita Amato; her siblings, Gerri Morrissey and Tony Amato; and her great‑granddaughter, Laurenza “Ren” Westerhold. Laurie built a long and dedicated career as an administrative assistant in the manufacturing industry. In 1987, she moved to Florida, drawn by the warm weather and family. She shifted into the finance field, continuing her work as an administrative assistant. Even after attempting retirement, Laurie’s love of learning and staying active brought her back into the workforce at age 67, when she became a transcriptionist at a law office. She truly believed you are never too old to learn something new. She was proud to have earned her certification from Palmer’s Writers School and even more proud to be a published writer. One of her favorite stories to share—often with a smile—was how she once mailed a letter with a taped quarter to Bob Hope, asking him to call her mother, Vita. To her delight, he called not once, but twice. Laurie treasured that memory and loved retelling it. Her greatest joy in life was her children. She guided them with love, strength, and patience, helping shape them into the people they are today. She also cherished every moment spent with her granddaughters, watching them grow into kind, generous women. Momma, Grandmama, Laurie—you will be missed by so many family members and friends. Thank you for always being in our corner and for being our biggest fan. Laurie’s strong Catholic faith carried her throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Orlando, Florida.
