Marcos D Muñiz

Marcos D. Muñiz, 83, of Orlando, Florida went home to the Lord while in the arms of his son and wife and surrounded by his loving family on March 6, 2015. Marcos was born in Gibara, Cuba on October 27, 1931 to loving parents, Juan and Elena Muñiz and had a wonderful childhood. At 31 years of age and with nothing but faith and hope, he immigrated to the United States in 1962, fleeing Castro’s regime and seeking a better life for his family. His prayers for the American Dream were answered and he has called Orlando his home for over 41 years. As a young man, Marcos loved to work on his family farm in Cuba. He colored our lives with many fond stories of those happy days when he worked and played beside his Father and Mother. In America, he worked as a printing pressman, a houseman and as a golf course attendant. He retired nearly 20 years ago after working at Disney for 25 years. His family and friends were his great joy. And he loved parties and all celebrations. He was happiest when surrounded by people he loved. Marcos was a wonderful story teller and loved to talk politics. But, his true passions were building and fixing things with his hands for his family and friends. Marcos loved the Lord and his Church. Marcos is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maria, and his adoring son, Juan. Marcos was also survived by his niece, Alicia, and nephew, Juan (Coco), both of whom he loved and helped raise as his own children; both from the time they were three years old. Marcos also leaves behind his very special nieces whom he loved dearly, Margarita, Dinah, Eileen, Doris, Clara Elena, Maria Elena, and Nury; his beloved sister and brother, Clara and Juan; and his dear nephews Rafael, Marcos, and Juan. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Juan and Elena; his sisters Elvira, Miriam and Maria Josefa; and his young nephew, Juan. Mason, Laura and Michael will miss their Abuelo. His wake will be held at his church home of St. John Vianney Catholic Church from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2015. The funeral mass will also be held at St. John’s on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00 am.
