In loving memory of Mario Afanador Sr. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mario Afanador Sr, who joined his son in heaven on May 25th, 2025. A man of extraordinary wisdom, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones. His life was a testament to living with integrity, love, purpose, determination, and sacrifice. Born to Don Pablo and Doña Angelica, in Puerto Rico on May 27th, 1939. He lived a free life. A life full of examples, lessons, memories made of loyalty, resilience, and an unwavering sense of love and duty. These were qualities that shaped him into the rock we knew him to be. Mario was a firm piece of the foundation of his family and will be remembered by all the lives he touched. A man who knew a lot about a lot, Mario was the one everyone turned to for answers, support, or simply a listening ear. To his loving wife of 69 years, he was her protector, lifelong best friend, love, and song in her heart. To his children he was a force of strength, an example of sacrifice, dependability, unconditional love, and support. To his granddaughters and great granddaughters, he was everything. But more than his knowledge it was his quiet presence and unshakable love for his family that defined him. He always put his loved ones first, finding ways to make their lives easier and their joy fuller. Be it with his acts of love or his well-meant secrets. Even in the moments when he didn’t understand why someone would pull away, he loved them still. In his final years, Mario was surrounded by his loving family. His beloved wife, Teresa, his daughter Wanda, his granddaughters Jennifer, and Victoria, and his great granddaughters Daniella and Bella. Their care and devotion provided him with peace and comfort, knowing that his family was near, just as he always made sure they were safe and loved. Mario is survived by his loving wife Teresa, his devoted daughter and son, four cherished granddaughters, two adored great granddaughters and one amazing great-grandson. His legacy lives on in the strength, wisdom, and love that will continue to guide and inspire them all. Those who truly knew him understood the depth of his character. His legacy will continue through the hearts and actions of all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives. A celebration of this great man’s life will be held on June 21st, 2025, at A Community Funeral Home. The family asks that in memory of his great legacy that you continue showing up for your loved ones, living a life of integrity and always protecting what matters most. Rest easy Mario (Papa, Pop, Negro). You were our strength, our guide, and our everything. For it is a fact that to be grieved as fiercely as you are- means that you lived and loved in your life fully. Your love and legacy will always live on and never fade.
