Marlene F. Kearns

Marlene Francis Kearns (MeMa), 74 joined her late husband and soulmate in heaven Saturday April 3, 2021. Marlene was born in Greenwood SC, August 19, 1946 to Marion and Darlene Herring. She lived most of her childhood in Des Moines Iowa. Des Moines is also where she met the love of her life Steven Larry Kearns and after only knowing each other for two weeks they married September 2, 1964. They built a life together raising four children. She was a stay-at-home Mom and later she worked as book keeper, office manager, and notary in their company AAA Contractors, she dabbled in real estate, and worked for a short time as seasonal employee at SeaWorld . She loved spending time with her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Marlene was truly a kindhearted person who gave to anyone who needed help. She was someone you could talk to…she would listen, and you knew she really cared about you. She donated money to families overseas. Marlene loved animals, if any animal found their way to her front door, they would be shown so much love, caring, endless food. She was scuba diver. She loved the performing arts, she volunteered at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater when the plays were held in the Lake Eola amphitheater. Marlene loved to take her family and friends to see live plays at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. She loved music and dancing, recently she loved watching Korean soap operas. She was a person full of life. Her grandchildren Chad Andrew Almond Tampa, FL Keith Alan Warren, (spouse Ambar Warren) Orlando, FL, Matthew Steven Kearns (spouse Jenell Kearns) Daily City, CA, Grayson Joseph Kearns (spouse Katie Kearns) Kodiak, AK, CaSara Lee-Ann Chavis (spouse Mark Chavis) Orlando, FL, Christian Thomas Kearns Las Cruces NM, and Mackenzie Grace Kearns Orlando, FL. Her 5 great grandchildren Karmyn Marie Chavis Eunice LA, Miles Steven Chavis Orlando FL, Hollice Kathrine Kearns Kodiak AK, Ava Naomi Warren Orlando FL, and Arihanna Leigh Chavis Orlando, FL. She loved spending time with all her family. Marlene (Mom) was a kind and most compassionate loving mother. MeMa loved to give gifts of books and puzzles to the younger ones and loved to read Harry Potter books with the older ones and then take them to see the movie. She would have Spa days and sleepovers. Our family would go to Sea World and Bush Gardens every year and it would fill her heart with happiness. All of us knew she loved us with her whole heart and were truly blessed to have her as a mother and grandmother. She gave her all for her family. Marlene was the eldest of 5 children Barbara Zaglauer Olympia WA, Marsha Perez Des Moines IA, Thomas Edgar Herring proceed in death, and Valerie Cacciatore Anna Maria Island FL. As the eldest sister she did whatever she could to care for her younger sibling and loved them unconditionally as she did with everyone. If you had the honor to have known Marlene, you were blessed. She was a beautiful person inside and out and much loved by many. An unforgettable person!!! You will remain in our hearts forever an angel above smiling down with love. We miss you beyond words. A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
