Neioma McCray

Neioma McCray was born in Immokalee, Florida, to the late James King and Leatha Mae Salter. On January 21st, 1962, Neioma married the love of her life, Louis McCray Senior, and started a family. Neioma and Louis were blessed with 7 children. Neioma had a vibrant love for life and family. She enjoyed shopping trips with her sister Mary and had a passion for clothes that reflected her joyful spirit. An amazing mother and sister, Neioma was best known for her Sunday dinners. Her meatloaf was legendary, and her cornbread was adored by her great-grandchildren. She never let a day pass without telling her family she loved them, believing that love was the greatest gift Jehovah had given us. Every night, until her body could no longer do so, she knelt at the foot of her bed in prayer, never allowing anything to interrupt this sacred time; it was through her prayers that our family has remained strong. Neioma also had a deep appreciation for old-school music and the blues, which filled her home with joy and soul. On June 9, 1993, Neioma was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She deeply cherished spending time with her brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall, where she found spiritual family and encouragement. Neioma especially enjoyed participating in the field ministry, which allowed her to share the good news and teach others about Jehovah’s loving promise of everlasting life in Paradise. This hope was close to her heart, and she shared it with as many people as she could reach. Even during times of illness, Neioma remained steadfast in her faith, continuing to speak to others about Jehovah and the hope he promises for the future. Neioma was preceded in death by her husband, Louis McCray Sr.; her brother, Andrew “Bad News” Salter Jr.; her sisters, Hattie Hick and Alvita Salter; her sons, James Louis McCray, Louis “Ug” McCray Jr., and Lewis “Stank” McCray; and her grandson, Brandon “Man” McCray. Neioma leaves to cherish her loving memory her siblings: Mary Reynolds, Andrew Mathis Salter, Cebele Salter, Albert Salter, Gloria Salter, and Elizabeth Salter. She is also survived by her children: Bridgette McCray, Vicky McCray, Donnell McCray, and Trevarious McCray. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Tiffany McCray-White, Terry Green, Sharveay Moore, Natosha Gifford, Brittany Gifford, Michael Gifford, Harmony Gifford, Benika McCray, Shakevia McCray, Miracle McCray, Donnell McCray Jr., Porchia McCray, Jordan McCray, and Gabrielle McCray. Neioma also leaves behind a host of beloved great-grandchildren who will carry her legacy forward with pride and love, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews
