Patrick John Flaherty

Patrick John Flaherty, 69, of Melbourne, Florida died January 22, 2022 suddenly of natural causes. Pat was born June 3, 1952 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Joseph and Claire Flaherty. He attended Clearwater High School in, Clearwater, FL. He continued his education at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Pat had a long career in the banking industry, spending his last 16 years of employment with Financial Supermarkets Inc., of Cornelia Georgia, as Executive Vice President/Director of Sales. He cherished the many relationships that he built along the way. Pat retired October 30, 2020 and shortly thereafter moved to Melbourne, FL to pursue his dream of living on his beloved sailboat “Christine”. Pat had a lifelong passion for sailing that began in childhood, learning to sail prams at the Clearwater Yacht Club. He was an avid Florida Gator Football fan spending many of his weekends in Gainesville cheering on his team. He also loved to travel, particularly to Ireland where he enjoyed immersing himself in the Irish culture and learning about his heritage. After his retirement, Pat enjoyed living closer to his daughter’s and grandchildren where he loved attending baseball games, birthday parties, holiday celebrations and spending quality time together. He is survived by his daughters, Megan Nylander (Ryan) and Lauren Collins (Corey); grandchildren, Zachary (7), Ethan (4), and Kennedy (2); and brothers, Dan, Jim and Tim Flaherty. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Claire Flaherty. Please join us on Saturday, January 29th from 2-4pm for an Irish Wake honoring Patrick Flaherty. Instead, we plan to gather to celebrate his life, share stories and raise a glass to honor him. Refreshments will be provided. Come as you are, stay as long or little as you would like.
