DELTONA, FLORIDA ROSE MARY SMITH (JULY 21, 1929-DECEMBER 20, 2022) In loving memory of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Rose Mary Smith, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family members in her home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11:30 am. Rose Mary was born on July 21, 1929 to Jack Griffo and Daisey C. Cagna in Highland, New York. Rose Mary is predeceased by her husband Harold W. Smith, her brothers, John J. Griffo Sr., Anthony J. Griffo, her sister Shirley A. Moore, and her daughter Rosemary Smith. She is survived by her daughter Carla C. (James) Fretwell, grandson Jonathan F. (Kristina) Fretwell, and great grandsons Aidan, Brendan, and Devin. Rose is also survived by her sibings Robert J. Griffo, Lawrence F. Griffo and sister Kathy Willis. Rose Mary has resided in Florida for over 50 years. During that time, she dedicated herself to loving and caring for her home and family. Rose Mary also worked in a nursing home for several years in Lake Worth, and was promoted to manage the activities for the elderly. She loved working with people, and was known to be young at heart, and full of vibrant energy. Mom enjoyed attending Mass with her family for many years, and even participated in a Summer VBS program at St. Matthew's in Winter Haven. She worked in the kitchen preparing snacks for the children, and taught the children how to bake bread. Mom also rounded up animal costumes for the children to wear for their Noah's Ark Kindergarten Performance. Mom was a kind, caring, and giving person who always put God and family first and foremost. She was loved by many, and will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched. She will be in our hearts forever. We all love you Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. A Funeral Mass will be held after the holidays at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona, Florida. Date and time to be announced. A reception will follow at Jonathan and Kristina's home in Deltona. Mom will rest in peace at Spruce Creek Cemetery in Port Orange. Date and time of internment will be announced.
