Roy T Kalish

Roy T. Kalish 79, of Apopka, Florida passed away on May 17, 2026, and the Universe lost one of its twinkling stars. Our kind and caring Roy was born in Teaneck, New Jersey on April 5, 1947, to loving parents Henry and Natalie Kalish. He was an integral part of the beloved pack of rascal cousins who frequently got together for special occasions at their grandparents’ apartment in the Bronx, New York. Roy grew up in New Jersey and graduated from High School in Fort Lee. He was a leader in the High School Debating Club and a member of the photography club, but his real passion was music, especially contemporary classical music and rock. As a radio deejay Roy shared his love and thoughts about music. Roy moved with his parents to the Bahamas and then to Florida where he worked for a time as a telemarketer. Florida transplants from New Jersey will seek out good NY style deli, and Roy found his: he loved TooJays deli. In later years, Roy worked for former Orange County, Florida District 2 County Commissioner Christine Moore. As a part-time aide in her office, he communicated with constituents inviting them to events, meetings, and neighborhood gatherings. Roy mostly used the phone for his work and residents were always eager to hear his cheerful voice. Roy continued his love of music throughout his life and enjoyed discussing his hobby with co-workers. He resided in Apopka, FL in an apartment building where residents would often comment on his friendly demeanor. He was known to engage in lively conversations about politics and was always up to listen to all points of view. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Natalie, his half-brothers Johnny and Joel, and his cousins Robert, Stephen, and Margery. He is survived by his cousins Dorianne (Ron,) Daniel, and Wendy (Jeff). Roy will be missed by all who knew him. We remember his spirit, intense intellect, resilience, and his genuinely caring outlook. He will always be in our hearts. The family is grateful to the health care and Hospice teams at AdventHealth in Orlando and especially to devoted friends Kathy Marsh and Christine Moore. There will be a private memorial for Roy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Roy Kalish to Jewish Social Services in Madison, WI.
