Stephanie Jean Russell

Our dearest beloved Stephanie Jean Russell, age 72, of Carolina, Puerto Rico passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017. She was born in Morganville, New Jersey, on January 13, 1945, to the late Alma and Badger Russell. Married to Jose E. Maldonado (father of her daughters) in Keyport, NJ on May 28, 1966 and then relocated their family to Puerto Rico in 1977 where years later they divorced. Stephanie embraced the island culture and made Puerto Rico her permanent home, she loved the people, the weather, the food, the music, the dancing and raised her two daughters who she gave unconditional love and support. Stephanie’s honorary Puerto Rican status is not a surprise to those she knew, as she learned Spanish, and was accepted by the community as their own. Stephanie met her loving partner Carlos Rodriguez, on October 15, 1987 where this year they just celebrated their 30th anniversary. Stephanie was a respected member of the community in Carolina, PR for over forty years. She was an educator who impacted many lives for thirty years. After retiring on January 9, 2011, many may remember Ms. Russell in the classroom as their English teacher others as their school administrator at Middle School, Agustin Cabrera in Carolina, PR from where she then retired. Throughout her career, Stephanie also taught elementary, middle & high school level English classes at public and private schools. She was a passionate educator, after work hours in the privacy of her home she would tutor and help the children of the community with their English homework. She was respected by her peers, coworkers, and students. Her years of service was never unnoticed, “Ms. Russell” was commonly recognized in the community by her previous students and honored and recognized for teaching many generations of students in her hometown of Carolina. Stephanie’s love for her family was boundless, she is survived by her two daughters; Julia Maldonado-Rodriguez, of Orlando, FL and Nereida Jean Maldonado Russell of Keyport, NJ, her four grandchildren, Joshian Luis, Ninoshka Marie, Jose Damian, Ashley Monique, her great-grandchild Ariadne Monik, her son-in-law Edward, her stepchildren Jose Enrique Jr, Gabriel Alejandro, Karla Nichole, her brothers Bruce & Warren, and her nephews and nieces. A viewing will be held at A Community Funeral Home Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and service will be held at 6:00 pm. Stephanie wishes will follow with cremation. Nacida en Morganville, New Jersey el 13 de enero de 1945, de sus padres Alma y Badger Russell. En su trayectoria de vida, el 28 de mayo de 1966 Stephanie contrajo matrimonio con José E. Maldonado (padre de sus hijas) en Keyport, NJ. Luego mudando a la familia a Puerto Rico la tierra natal de José en enero del 1977. Después de su divorcio, el 15 de octubre del 1987 Stephanie conoció a su amado compañero Carlos Rodríguez donde estuvo a su lado y de sus hijas. Este año celebraron su aniversario de 30 años. Stephanie abrazo la cultura puertorriqueña como cualquier nativa de la bella Isla, Puerto Rico. Era natural para ella enamorarse del clima, la gente, la música, el baile y todo que ofrece la isla del encanto. Adoptando las tradiciones puertorriqueñas ella educó y proveyó el amor incondicional y apoyo a sus dos bellas Hijas; Julia y Nereida. Stephanie aprendió el español y fue aceptada por la comunidad puertorriqueña. Stephanie fue un miembro de la comunidad de Carolina P.R. por más de cuarenta años. En su ámbito profesional le dedico treinta años a la educación como maestra de inglés impactando muchos jóvenes locales. Muchos recordarán a la Sra. Russell como su Maestra de inglés en el salón de clases o como su administradora en la escuela intermedia Agustín Cabrera en Carolina P.R. donde finalmente se retiró el 9 de enero del 2011. Ella trabajo para el sistema educativo privado y público a nivel elemental, intermedia y superior. Era una persona apasionada sobre su vocación; en su tiempo libre y sin incentivo adicional “Ms. Russell” ayudo a muchos niños de la comunidad a obtener éxito en el aprendizaje del inglés sirviendo como tutora. Fue una figura admirada y respetada por sus colegas, amigos y estudiantes. Ella fue un ejemplo en la comunidad, reconocida por su dedicación y su apoyo incondicional a sus alumnos durante sus años de servicio en Carolina, P.R. El amor que Stephanie le tenía a su familia no tenía límites. Sus predecesores son, hijas; Julia Maldonado-Rodriguez de Orlando, FL y Nereida Jean Maldonado Russell de Keyport, NJ. Sus cuatro nietos; Joshian Luis, Ninoshka Marie, José Damian, Ashley Monique, su bisnieta; Ariadne Monik, su yerno; Edward, sus hijastros; José Enrique Jr., Gabriel Alejandro, Karla Nicole, sus hermanos en vida; Bruce y Warren y sus sobrinos y sobrinas. El velorio ocurrirá en el “A Community Funeral Home” de Orlando, FL el miércoles 15 de noviembre del 2017 de 4:00pm a 8:00pm, el servicio será a las 6:00pm. Los deseos de Stephanie son de ser cremada.
