Wade Leon McLeod

Wade Leon McLeod, 56, passed away at his home in Orlando, Florida on September 12, 2019. He was born in Windsor, Ontario in Canada on June 4, 1963. A Celebration of Life will be held at the home he shares with his husband, Robert Hattox on Tuesday, September 17, from 4-8 PM. Please note, the guard gate will let you in. Wade began a new life in Florida in 1996 where he met Robert Hattox and they began their journey together. Four houses, six dogs and a cat later, their homes were always the place to be on weekends, special occasions and especially the holidays when Wade went above and beyond with his entertaining and cooking skills. He was especially adept at grilling and no one on the planet cooked better ribs. Wade always had a smile on his face, a sly wise crack and a quick wit unmatched by anyone. You were always welcome in his company and in his home but not everyone got a free pass. He was very intuitive and had high standards but everyone who knew him knew he didn’t just let anyone in his circle, but once you were in, you were in. However, when it was time for the party to end, he didn’t shy away from showing you the exit. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his friends and family and there was no one better to have in your corner when you needed help no matter the task or the time of day. Generosity was a major strength of Wade’s as he was always willing to give you his time and lend you his tools. But you better return them on time! He enjoyed traveling and his pets. Wade spent many hours working on his home, in which he took great pride. Wade’s sense of humor was a mix of sarcasm, sass and snark. He always had a funny story to tell and had an infectious laugh which endeared him to so many. He was someone you looked forward to seeing because you knew you were going to have a great time. He loved watching reruns of Mike and Molly, listening to classic 70’s pop hits, and owning sports cars that he never drove. Best of all, Wade loved a good deal. He was the ultimate shopper. He loved his nieces and nephews and spoiled them rotten, saw all of Cher’s final tours, was proud of his Canadian heritage, and insisted on a clean house. And he was sure to have the best Christmas decorations on the block. Wade often left a party quickly, quietly and often earlier than expected. That he left the planet the same way should not surprise any of us who knew him well. He will forever be missed and never be replaced. And in the end, he gave those who were fortunate to know him memories they will always treasure.
