Barbara Ann Boroughs
September 26, 1942 - September 17, 2021
On September 17th, 2021, Barbara Ann Boroughs lost her long battle with heart failure. Born to Archibald Baxter Johnson and Mary Louise Powers, Barbara was the oldest of two girls. She and her younger sister, Mary Louise, were very close as the family moved all over the Carolinas during their upbringing. Barbara especially enjoyed her time in St Pauls, NC with her aunts, Kate and Annie Ester. Barbara was a graduate of Thomasville High School in North Carolina. Following high school, she attended East Carolina University’s Teacher’s College and graduated with a degree in Education. In 1965, she wed Paul “Tommy” Boroughs in the First Presbyterian Church of Dillon, SC. They met on a blind date and married following Tommy's service in the Marine Corps. She taught second and third grade while supporting Tommy through his studies at Duke University Law School. They moved to Winter Park, Florida in 1968. Together, they beautifully raised three children and found great joy in their five grandchildren. Barbara touched the lives of many friends, neighbors, and family with her kindness, intelligence, and humor. She provided a loving home for her family, as well as for the many pets she loved dearly. Barbara was a truly gracious woman who welcomed everyone into her home with warmth and charm. Volunteer work was an integral part of her life as well. She served in the Junior League and brightened the lives of seniors in a nursing home. She is survived by her devoted husband, Tommy, her loving sister, Mary Louise Johnson, and children Lizbet Boroughs, Kennan Boroughs, and Anna Boroughs Polack. Her grandchildren, Sage Starkey, Quinn Boroughs, Cade Boroughs, Benjamin Tyahla, and Logan Polack will remember their "Bebe" for enthusiastic card games and serving ice cream for breakfast. A private service will be held at Community Funeral Home and Sunset Cremations on Sunday, September 26th. Barbara's family is grateful for the love and guidance provided by Vitas Hospice. Memorials can be made to Vitas Hospice. www.vitascommunityconnection.org/
