Carlos Eduardo deVillalvilla, age 61 passed away on March 22, 2022 after suffering post-surgical complications. He was born on September 17, 1960 in New York, New York to devoted parents Carlos and Maryann deVillalvilla. He attended school in southern California at Chaminade Preparatory and then Loyola Marymount University where he majored in English and Journalism. Carlos stepped through the doors of The San Jose Metro in its early days. In Sound Check, his weekly column, deVillalvilla kept tabs on the burgeoning scene, which began drawing major music acts to the area at such new venues as One Step Beyond, F/X and the Shoreline Amphitheatre. Later in life he met his wife Doreen in the early internet days in an Aol trivia chat room. They were married February 28, 1998 exactly 1 year after their first date. They moved to Orlando, Florida soon after and bought a home in the suburb of Apopka where they enjoyed spending time going to movies, especially at "The Enzian" where they found long-lasting friendships. They shared a love for hockey (Go Sharks), and they loved to travel, They were lucky to visit many exotic places around the globe and especially enjoyed cruising where they met life long friends as well. Carlos returned to his writing in the early 2000's where he wrote a movie blog "Cinema365" and freelanced for many publishers across the east coast promoting movies. He would often comment on what a good life he had and appreciated family and friends. Carlos is survived by his loving wife Doreen and his son Jacob Hickey. He is also survived by his mother Maryann deVillalvilla, his sister Maryann Dube and niece Elisabeth Dube. He also leaves behind his Aunt Nicole Ritchot and Uncle Jerry Sopko and their daughters Danielle (Andrew) Katrina (Kyle) and their families. He also leaves 2 fur babies, Autumn and Kuusi whom he adored. He leaves behind extended family members and many friends who he was blessed to have in his life.
