Durland Lee Ryckman

November 23, 1949 - December 22, 2020

Ryckman, Durland Lee, age 71 of Orlando, FL passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 after a courageous fight with cancer. Durland came to Florida in 1968 from the family home in Jamestown, NY. to attend the University of Miami from where he was graduated in 1972 with a degree in Business Administration. He worked at J. Byrons in Miami after graduation. He decided to move to Orlando where he took a job as a server with Walt Disney World in 1973 and retired after 45 years with Disney. He and his husband Rocky had many wonderful travel experiences over the years. He was known to his friends for his famous chocolate chip cookies. He was also a talented cook and he and Rocky hosted many wonderful dinner parties. Their love blossomed over the years, as they realized how much they had in common and were married on their 30th anniversary in a castle in St. Augustine. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Edith Ryckman and his sister Ruthie Cordt. He is survived by his loving husband Rocky Rose, his devoted Mother-in-law Peggy Rose and his faithful dog Sandy Duncan who was at his side constantly, all of Orlando, FL. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
