Lucy Ann (formerly Spoto) Herman

May 29, 1943 - January 20, 2022

Lucy Herman of Tampa, FL passed peacefully on January 20th at Orlando Regional Medical Center after a six-month battle with complications from COVID. Lucy was born to parents Edward Spoto and Carmen Spoto (formerly Sarcone), and attended Hillsborough High School and Florida State University, before returning to Tampa to begin her career as a high school educator. While working, she obtained a Master’s in Education from University of South Florida. She worked for more than 40 years as a teacher and guidance counselor at Hillsborough, Jefferson, Robinson and Chamberlain High Schools, and touched countless students’ lives over that time. Lucy took great pride in her large family of Sicilian immigrants and was responsible for organizing annual holiday get-togethers and family reunions for over a hundred relatives as the family tree grew. Lucy is survived by her two sons Rick of Summit, NJ (wife Meredith, children Carter, Carly, Reed and Sawyer) and Scott of Orlando, FL (wife Amanda, children Bodhi and Tatum), all of whom she doted on and loved dearly. Memorial Mass will be held on February 12, 2022, Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33609, at 12:00 p.m., a reception to follow at the McLoughlin Center at CKS.
