Viron C. Chastain

April 15, 1931 - April 7, 2022

Viron C. Chastain, 90, of Orlando, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Thursday, April 7th, a week shy of his 91st Birthday. Viron was born April 15th, 1931, in McCaysville, GA, a son to the late John Thomas and Dovie (Long) Chastain. Viron was the youngest of nine children, unfortunately, his father and mother passed away early in his life, therefore, Viron at the age of 16 moved to Orlando, FL, to live near his oldest sister, and as fate would have it this is where he met his beloved wife. Viron was an entrepreneur at a young age owning two gas stations, one in Marietta, GA, and one in Orlando, FL. After the sale of the Orlando gas station, Viron joined Ryder Corporation where he retired at the age of 62, following a 30-year career with many accolades and awards for his safety record. Viron was an active, caring, hardworking, loving father and husband. He enjoyed the outdoors, the beach, boating, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family and pets. Viron also enjoyed listening and dancing to the classic sounds of the 50s and 60s. He was a humble man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Juanita Chastain, his brothers and sisters; Wayne Chastain, Claude Chastain, Richard Chastain, John Thomas Jr. (JT) Chastain, Emily Stepp, Wenona Baldwin, Edna Brooks, Bonita McMahan. Viron is survived by his four children: Tony Chastain of Orlando, FL, Robert Chastain of Winter Haven FL, Mary Lozano (Bob) of Windermere, FL, Anna Chastain-Dekema (Jason) of Orlando, FL; and his two granddaughters, Amanda Craig of Orlando, FL, and Ashley Palata (Kurt) of Ocoee FL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 23, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at A Community Funeral Home, 910 W. Michigan Street, Orlando, FL 32805. The family welcomes flowers or in place of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or the American Cancer Society.
