Athul Ferguson

Athul Kwali Ferguson, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on October 10, 2024, at the young age of 17. Born on November 25, 2006, Athul was a vibrant spirit who embraced life with passion and enthusiasm, leaving an incredible mark on all who knew him. To those who loved him, Athul was known as an understanding, patient, caring, kind, and strong young man. He is survived by his loving mother, Sharlema Ferguson, and his two devoted brothers, Akhil and Abhishek Ferguson. He also leaves behind grandparents, a host of aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins who cherished him deeply. His late father, Vernon Ferguson, asked and prayed for Athul long before he was born, breathing him into life as his “mini-me.” Now, father and son are reunited in heaven. Athul’s bond with family was strong, and he cherished the time spent with them. He deeply loved his parents, always talking about his father with admiration and worrying about his mother’s well-being. He had many aspirations and ambitions and was a loving teenager who prayed at night. Recently, he had just started to set personal goals related to fitness and the gym, adding to his growing list of dreams. Athul had a profound love for basketball and football and was fascinated by fancy cars. One of his greatest joys was dreaming of driving a Lamborghini, often begging his mother to rent one for his birthday. His excitement grew when he earned his driver’s license, a milestone that symbolized his growing independence and adventurous spirit. A young gentleman who was excited to start traveling, he was determined to live life on his own terms. He found joy in attending concerts, trying new restaurants, and had even started learning how to cook. His zest for trying new things extended to his close-knit circle of friends, with whom he shared a deep loyalty and an unwavering sense of support, especially over the past year. In pursuit of his dreams, Athul made the bold decision to step away from traditional schooling, earning his high school diploma a year early. He was set to begin his studies at Valencia College but was also adamant about exploring his entrepreneurial aspirations alongside a close friend. Athul’s kind heart, respect for others, and fierce independence defined him. His presence brought light and energy to every room, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Athul is now just as loved in heaven as he was on earth, joining his late father, Vernon, and grandmother, Karen Ferguson.
