Charles "Bud" Godfrid Delay

Charles (Bud) G. Delay The loss of a gracious, kind, loving man. Bud was born in Torrington, CT on Feb 17, 1930. Bud’s work ethic and dedication to family was unsurpassed throughout his life. This started early for him when his Mother passed away when he was 4 years old. Around this age up until he was in his teens he worked on the farm with his father, feeding and milking the cows on the dairy farm they owned. At 7 he would ride his bike for miles to deliver newspapers and did his farm chores before breakfast all before going to school each day. In later years his father and step mother owned a country store which among other things had a post office and a part of the store that served hot dogs and home made ice cream. When he was a teenager and adding to the normal chores and duties for the family he was a life guard at the lake resort Burrville Pond in CT. He attended the Oliver Wolcott trade school in Litchfield, CT to learn carpentry and construction. In 1946 at the age of 16, Bud drove himself and his five younger brothers and sister from Connecticut to Florida where his parents had already moved and started a life in Orlando. Sometime after arriving in Florida he met and fell in love with Annette Rabion and on December 28, 1951 they were married. Shortly after, he enlisted into the Army during the time of the Korean conflict. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was in charge of a squad of men that helped to build Radio Free Europe by building hundreds of radio towers throughout Austria and Germany. He returned home in 1953 and built his family home by hand in Orlando. He worked as an independent contractor throughout the greater Orlando area for over 50 years. In July of 1954 they had their first child Deborah, 1956 they had Charles S. and in 1959 they had Michael A. Bud and Annette had nearly 48 years together before Annette passed away in 1999. He later married a longtime friend, Carolyn Flanagan on July 08, 2000 and spent the next 15 years together. He was a quiet, brave and loving man who gave all of himself for his family. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Delay, his Daughter Deborah Delay and sons Charles Stephenson Delay (sp. Pat Delay) and Michael Albert Delay (sp. Mary Ann Delay) Step-Daughters, Nancy Heltsley (sp. Chuck Heltsley), Betty Bennett (sp. Gary Bennett) He has several grandchildren; Tammy Dobbyn (sp. Richard Dobbyn), Tony Puskarik (sp. Nancy Puskarik), Jan Puskarik, Johnny Puskarik, Tabitha Grossnickle Delay. (sp.TJ Grossnickle), Elizabeth Delay, Jamie Heltsley, Daniel Bennett, Joseph Bennett Several great grandchildren; Dominick Vazquez, Adrian Puskarik, Amber Puskarik, Ricky Dobbyn, Grace Irizarry, Stephanie Meza, Phillip Grossnickle, Victoria Grossnickle, Sophie Grossnick, and one great-greatgrandchild, Jayden Brothers, John P. Delay (sp. Mary Ann Delay), Harry F. Delay, and Michael P. Delay (sp. Nancy Rogers) Sister, Joan Jewett (sp. Dwight Jewett)
