Jacalyn E. Dalmida-Hill

Jacalyn E. Dalmida-Hill was born on March 22nd, 1965 on the beautiful island of St Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. She was the beautiful daughter to James C. Dalmida Sr. and Thelma A. Dalmida and the youngest of seven children. Her childhood was full of adventures, from afternoons at the bay across the street to trips to Salt Pond and Lameshur to go fishing for jackfish. At the young age of 12, Jacalyn left the Virgin Islands and relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where she lived with her older brother James Jr. Jacalyn worked hard and made her way through high school. After graduation, Jacalyn returned back to the Virgin Islands. Jacalyn gave birth to her first daughter, Virginia “Jenny” in April 1985, followed by her youngest daughter Angelica in January 1990. Jacalyn diligently studied the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and on July 7th, 1991, Jacalyn symbolized her dedication to Jehovah in baptism at the age of 26. Jacalyn moved from the island of St. John to Orlando, Florida in 1995, where she became deeply rooted in the Conway Congregation. Jacalyn saw the importance of keeping Jehovah first and foremost in her life, instilling that importance in her daughters. Jacalyn kept Matthew 6:33 close to her heart which says to “Keep on, then, seeking first the Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you.” Jacalyn cultivated many friendships, turning friends into family in her 17 years of attendance at Conway. During that time, her focus was her daughters, making sure that they grew up to serve Jehovah God and make the truth their own (3 John 4). Through many hardships Jacalyn stayed loyal to Jehovah, never relying on herself but on Jehovah’s standards and principals. During those hard times, Jacalyn and Jenny shared many precious moments together as they both took a stand for what is right in Jehovah’s eyes. They both travel to Bethel (the World Headquarters of Jehovah Witnesses), went on tours and came to know and love many who shared their faith. In 2012, Jacalyn and Jenny were reassigned across the hall to the Southeast Congregation. During their time at Southeast, they auxiliary pioneered and served in unassigned territory, serving Jehovah to the fullest together as a family unit. Jacalyn found much delight in being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved having conversations based on Bible truths wherever she was at the time. Jacalyn had a scripture for any circumstance. One that she lived by was Isaiah 40:29-30: “He gives power to the tired one and full might to those lacking strength. Boys will tire out and grow weary, and young men will stumble and fall, but those hoping in Jehovah will regain power. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not tire out.” Jacalyn enjoyed evenings at Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center, getaways to Tarpon Springs or Cocoa Beach, weekend visits to Miami to see friends and road trips to St Augustine, stopping at almost every fabric store on the way. Jacalyn was well known for her culinary skills. If it wasn’t her curry chicken or iced tea than it was her sweets such as her pound cake, oatmeal cookies, and coconut bread. Jacalyn had a remarkable way of encouraging anyone of her nieces and nephews that crossed her path. Always offering practical advice and encouraging all to control your “controllable”. Jacalyn was the first to pick up the phone and call or send a text just to say I’m thinking of you – not just among family but also with her friends. Jacalyn will be truly missed. We all mourn the loss our mother, sister, aunt, and friend. We are left with a deep void that will not be filled again until she is resurrected in Jehovah God’s earthly paradise. (John 5:28 ,29). Take comfort in knowing that she is resting safely in Jehovah’s memory.
