Kathleen Marie Orme

Kathleen Marie Orme (Urell), of Leesburg, Florida, passed away on August 22, 2026, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Joe Neville, in Windermere, Florida, surrounded by her family. Kathy was born on April 11, 1949, in Long Beach, California, to John and Mary Urell. The eldest of seven children, she grew up in Tustin, California, where she helped her hardworking mother raise her brothers and sisters in a close-knit, devout Catholic family and a home filled with laughter, teasing and love. She attended the University of California, Irvine, before completing nursing school at the University of California, San Francisco. Kathy enjoyed a nursing career that spanned more than 40 years, working primarily as a home health nurse. Her strength, warmth and willingness to care for people during difficult times were especially evident during the AIDS epidemic of the 1990s, when she worked directly with patients living with HIV and AIDS. She approached that important work with courage, kindness and respect. In 1975, Kathy married the love of her life, Chuck Orme. They shared 37 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2012. Kathy and Chuck were true partners and best friends, and their life together was filled with love, laughter and adventure. Some of their happiest times were spent attending their children’s sporting events, boating, golfing, being a part of the Corvette club and traveling. Above all, they treasured the family and life they built together. Throughout their marriage, Kathy and Chuck called many places home, including Rockville and Gaithersburg, Maryland; Sacramento and Pleasanton, California; Medford, New Jersey; Midlothian, Virginia; and Scottsdale, Arizona. With every move, Kathy was able to build deep and meaningful connections in her community and parishes, serving for many years as a Eucharistic Minister while raising her children in Midlothian, Virginia. After Chuck’s passing, Kathy moved to Leesburg, Florida, and began a new chapter of her life. She built a close circle of friends and filled her days with the things she enjoyed most: reading, golfing, pickleball and amazing adventures throughout the world including an African safari, a Rhine River cruise, and visiting the Holy Land, France and Ireland. Despite suffering a debilitating injury nine years ago, she continued to live a full life. She cheered on her grandchildren as they competed in their various sports, spent time with family and friends, and traveled multiple times to California, Europe, Mexico, Nantucket and Virginia. She also enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong, water aerobics, dinners with friends and attending weekly Mass. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted wife, a loyal friend and a resilient woman who met life’s joys and challenges with strength. Her family was always at the center of her world, and she took great pride in her children, grandchildren and extended family. Kathy is survived by her daughter, Kristy Neville, and her husband, Joe, and their children, Evan, Claire and Ella Grace, of Windermere, Florida; her son, Bryan Orme, and his wife, Laura, and their children, Davis, Lucy, Charlie, Jack and Rose, of McLean, Virginia; and her bonus son, Chuck Orme, and his wife, Shannon, and their children, Maxwell, Audrey and Grant, of Windermere, Florida. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Bob Urell and his wife, Kathy; the Rev. Msgr. John Urell; Beth Hedrick and her husband, Bill; Debbie Wesseln and her husband, Curtis; and Steve Urell and his wife, Karen; as well as 16 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chuck Orme; her parents, John Urell and Mary Urell and her sister Mary Patricia Urell. Kathy lived a full and meaningful life, rich in family and friendship. Her loving spirit, kindness and remarkable resilience will live on through the family she cherished and the many friends she made along the way. She will be deeply loved, fondly remembered and greatly missed. A Funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 12 at 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Orlando, Florida.
