Kenneth Oscar Sandeen

Our Fondest Memory of Kenneth O. Sandeen January 6, 1934 – September 16, 2021 Kenneth Oscar Sandeen was born on January 6, 1934. He passed away at the respectable age of 87. He was the son of Oscar Martin Sandeen and Annie Halberg. He was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years before attending and graduating from DePaul University shortly after returning from his time during the Korean War. He was proud of his career as a Vice President of Systems and Development for Montgomery Ward where he worked for 32 years until he retired in 1999. After his retirement, he and his wife Rachel relocated to Florida to spend more time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ken was a lover of culture. He enjoyed music from the big band era to jazz produced in the early 2000s. He couldn't put down a good book, could watch a good movie over and over, read the paper every day, had his morning coffee on a timer. He enjoyed the thrill of a good sporting event. He enjoyed sports so much that he never missed a Cubbies or Bears game. He even jumped at the opportunity to volunteer during the 1994 FIFA World Cup in Chicago. He inspired his children to be lifelong learners. His family meant everything to him. He made sure we had regular family gatherings, the most important of which were Thanksgiving and the celebration of his wedding anniversary during Memorial Day weekend. He will be dearly missed. Kenneth was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Rachel Jewel Sandeen, his youngest daughter, Karen Rachelle Sandeen, his parents and his sister, MaryAnn. Kenneth is survived by his children, Jacqueline Burn (Robert), Kimberly Bailey (Sammy), David Sandeen (Delores); grandchildren Nicole, Brandon, Dinelle, Tairyn, Chelsea, Asia, Kenneth and Christopher; Great grandchildren Christopher, Kennedy, Lauryn, Thomas, Olivia, Rebecca, Karla, Alaiya, and London. Celebration of life Service will be held on October 9, 2021 @ 1:00 PM Location – Jacksonville, Fl (Private) Repass immediately following THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE To often we don’t realize What we have to until it’s gone Too often we wait too late to say “I’m sorry. I was wrong” Sometimes we seem we hurt the ones We hold dearest to our hearts And we allow the stupid things To tear our lives apart Far too many times we let Unimportant things get in our mind And by then it’s usually too late To see what made us blind So be sure that you let people know How much they mean to you Take the time to say the words Before your time is through Be sure that you appreciate Everything you’ve got And be thankful for the little things In life that means a lot -Written by Tairyn Palanker
