Lucas John Rainwater

Lucas John Rainwater departed this life quietly on February 4, 2024 at his home in Inverness, Florida. Beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, friend, Lucas’s loved ones grieve his untimely passing and celebrate his life. He left early, in God’s time, living fully and deeply in the time he was given. Lucas was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on April 9, 1993, third of the five Rainwater children. Throughout his life he was known for his kindness and friendly disposition. Always adventurous, he rode his bike before his feet could touch the ground and played roller hockey when his stick still had to be cut in half. As an adult he loved navigating the Homosassa waterways. On Christmas day at age eight he asked to be baptized. His family and friends met at Christ’s Church at Georgetown for his baptism, where he followed Jesus that day. In recent months Lucas embraced renewed hope in his childhood faith. Lucas moved with his family to Central Florida in 2002. After high school he briefly produced music. In his 20s after attending electrician’s school, he found commercial construction an ideal career. He was a business manager and craftsman with a reputation for smoothing out bumps and creating successful projects. Before age 30 he became the youngest field superintendent in two Central Florida firms. With contagious enthusiasm, quiet service and intense loyalty, Lucas was a doer, who most of all loved and served his family and friends. His activities always brought people together. He was known for an annual gathering of extended family at his home during the holidays. Lucas is survived by his parents Steve and Kalina, of Orlando, Florida; his brothers Colby, Dylan, and Taylor Rainwater; his sister Talissa Rainwater; niece Aleena Rainwater; nephew Chandler Bacon; and his grandparents Waldomiro de Oliveira and Maria José Silva de Oliveira, of Natal, Brazil. His grandparents Howard and Iva Rainwater of Indianapolis, preceded him in death. “For if we have been united with [Jesus] in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.” –Romans 6:5 Visitation was Monday, February 12, 2024 at A Community Funeral Home in Orlando, FL. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Orlando, FL. Lucas became a regular viewer of The Chosen—the TV series about the Gospel Story.
