Marva Binnie McGregor

Marva Binnie McGregor went on to be with our Lord and Savior July 14, 2021 at the age of 73. Marva was born on March 19, 1948 in Kingston, Jamaica to the late Louise Emily Herbert and Rupert Nash Herbert. As an adult, Marva migrated to the United States with her husband and children in the early 1980’s. Marva supported her family working various jobs in the domestic services during that time. Marva later divorced her first husband Nicholas Binnie and remarried to the love of her life, Clive McGregor. In 1990, Marva relocated with her family to Pompano Beach, Florida. She spent most of her time now as a homemaker and stay at home mom. She took pride in her home and always kept it in immaculate condition. Marva led a fulfilled life enjoying music, entertaining her family and friends, traveling back home to Jamaica and finding joy in everyday life. Marva especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and basking them in her love. Marva was known for her award-winning moves on the dance floor. She went to a night club one evening with her sister-in-law and was brought to the stage for a dance competition. Marva put on such a show she came in first place and left everyone impressed. Marva was a warrior with a heart of gold. She was fearless, bold, brave and compassionate. She was known for coming to the defense of her loved ones especially her children like a lioness. In 1990 Marva was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor and she was told she did not have very long to live. Two different teams of doctors told her to go home and put her affairs in order. Despite the odds and the medical professionals’ opinions, Marva lived another 30 plus years. She was able to witness the birth of her grandchildren, attend concerts and ENJOY friends and family. In the end Marva needed extensive care with the loss of her vision and declining mentation. While she was in complete need, her daughter Nicole cared and fought for her like the warrior and caregiver she taught her to be. Marva passed peacefully with her daughter Nicole, son-in law Albert and her Niece Ann by her side. She is survived by her children Nicole Burkley (Albert Burkley son-in-law); Ian Binne (Bobbie Jean Goldfine daughter-in-law); Rupert Shawn Herdsman (daughter-in-law Tanya Herdsman); grandchildren Ava Burkley, Nicholas Burkley, Aaron Binnie, Alyssa Binnie, Jennifer Herdsman, Wesley Milam, Thomas Milam; brother Derick Herbert; sister Marjorie Barwell; niece and nephews Ann Barwell, Derick Herbert, Andre Herbert, and Paul Herbert; grand nieces and nephew Latoya, Djanyel, Djakeem, Yashemabeth, Djahkya and Djahnya; as well as adored family and friends.
