Mary Catherine Rossman

Mary Catherine Rossman of Orlando, Florida went home to everlasting peace and joy with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ on March 5, 2015. She was born on May 12, 1933 in Norwood, Ohio. She was raised by her grandparents, Cora and Roland Smith in Elmira, New York. Mary (also later known as "Kitty") got married at 18 to George Gordy and had six children, including twins. She worked as legal secretary to the Judge in Elmira, New York. She married again, to Donald Simmons of Sayre, PA and went on to pursue Interior Decorating. She received her certificate at The New York School of Interior Design, in New York City and then opened her own store, Designers Habitat in Sayre, PA. After she left Sayre, she moved to South Florida where became a licensed Real Estate Broker in Palm Beach County. She met the love of her life there, Lewis Rossman, and they lived in Florida many years. Her final business triumph was opening her own home-based medical transcription business. Mary enjoyed watercolor painting, beading and jewelry design, she loved dogs and adored cats. Mary made friends easily wherever she went; she had an easy, gentle, loving spirit that was very inviting and fun to be around. Her sense of humor was wonderful, a good laugh was always enjoyed with her. Her sense of style was a gift and her creative spirit was truly inspiring. Mary loved her six children dearly and besides her husband, Lew, they were always the focus of her life. The last several years were spent at Plantation Oaks Senior Living in Orlando, Florida, where she enjoyed bingo, yoga, bible study and spending time with a very special friend, Fernando Del Castillo, who was truly an angel to her and she to him. Her eldest child, Deborah Lopez, was her very excellent caretaker and saw her through her illness to her last moment. She is predeceased by her husband, Lewis Rossman of 16 years in August 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lopez of Orlando; Victoria Hallman and her husband, Richard Hallman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; her daughter, Judith Dennis and her husband, John Dennis of Apopka, FL; her daughter, Julie Gordy of Boston, MA; her son George Gordy of Ft. Myers, FL; and her son, David Gordy of Malden, MA; six grandchildren: Cassidy Keshishian, Christopher Hallman, Taylor Gordy, Alexandra Hallman, Zoe Gordy, Logan Gordy and two great grandchildren: Aviana Parkman and Olivia Hallman. Memorial service will be held on March 28, 2015 at Plantation Oaks Senior Living Center at 9309 S.Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, Florida 32837 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
