Sciare L'Wrent Johnson

Sciare L’wrent Johnson was born on February 18, 1997, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to Yessenia Anderson-Gil and John (“Sciheme”) Johnson. Sci was someone who could light up any room with his smile. He loved to joke and had a playful way of teasing those he cared about most. Sci had many passions, including going to the gym, watching horror movies, playing and watching football, gaming, cooking, and, most importantly, spending time with friends. In the town where he grew up, he became well known for his athletic ability; serving as captain of his football team in his early adolescence before graduating high school with the Class of 2015. From a young age, Sci was known for being dependable, ambitious, and hardworking. He was also deeply empathetic and kindhearted, often described as the kind of person who would “give the clothes off his back” to help someone in need. His love for animals was just as strong; especially for dogs and birds. Even as a child, Sci would bring home abandoned animals to care for, including kittens, fledglings, and turtles. Sci stood firmly in his beliefs and was never afraid to speak up for what he felt was right, even when it wasn’t the easiest path. He had a naturally curious and philosophical mind, always wanting to understand the “why” behind how things worked. Just one week after graduating high school, Sci began working at BAMCO, where he remained for seven years, until 2022. It was there he discovered a talent for working with his hands, managing numbers, and overseeing operations. He took great pride in his work, constantly seeking new challenges and opportunities to grow, always striving to expand his knowledge and refine his skills. In 2024, in what would become the final chapter of his life, Sci moved to Florida to be closer to his mother. There, he formed meaningful connections and embraced life fully, exploring new hobbies and seeking out new adventures that matched his bold spirit. He also worked to mend relationships and cherished the time he was able to spend reconnecting with family. In addition to his parents, Sciare is survived by his grandmother, Julia Hernandez; his grandfather Juan Hernandez; his stepfather, Jimmi Gil; his sister, Athena (Nicolas) Suarez; his niece, Alessia Suarez DeLeon; his brother, Jaquan Stewart; his niece, Angela Stewart; his sister, Briana Quamina; and his nephew, Malachi Sampson, along with many relatives and friends whom he considered family. A celebration of Sciare’s life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Mission City Church, 608 Valley Dale Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with services beginning promptly at 2:00 p.m.
