Steven Larry Kearns

Steven was born and grew up in and around Des Moines, Iowa. He was always very creative and dedicated. He has been in construction practically his whole life. I have always said he was married to his work and I was his mistress. He designed and built a house when he was in high school and then later sold it. He built a tri story home with a basement in the detached garage before we met. All four of our children were born while living here. Then he remodeled a 4 story barn into our home in Norwalk, Iowa. Next it was a 7 bedroom farm house that he remodeled and then a tri level solar home with an attached greenhouse – both in South Carolina. In Florida, he remodeled a 4 bedroom home, built a Castle, and demoed and remodeled a house on a small lake, where we still live. We were scuba divers and went on many dive trips, several with the kids. We met a lot of new friends in dive clubs and are still friends with a lot of them. He was a small plane pilot, and owned a couple of airplanes – but not at the same time. We owned many boats, but the most memorable was the pontoon boat that we bought in Iowa. We have used the boat on dive trips, hummer trips, many, many trips to the ocean and Lakes with family and friends. We bought a trike from a friend and we transformed it into a dragon trike, that we have taken on many trips, and bike runs. He was a Hummer and we went on a lot of canoe trips. We met a lot more friends that are now Family. He was like a MacGyver but much better. He could improvise anything. He was an awesome father. We took the kids on many adventures, taught them “please and thank you” , made them do chores. And on Saturdays he would wake them early and they had to do chores before they could go play etc. The kids grew up, married and had kids of their own. The grand kids have many memories of the castle. Pepa built them a play house that they could climb on etc. also got to go on four-wheeler rides and got to ride a go cart. He has touched so many lives and left profound impressions. To meet him was to love him. He took people for who they are. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
